Today, I am heading to the Hope Global Financial Dignity Summit. The guest speakers include the U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Hip-Hop Mogul Russell Simmons.
Below is a brief description of the event taken from the Hope Global Financial Dignity Summit website.
The Global Financial Dignity Summit is expecting an audience of more than 1,000 delegates, from 50 countries. The Global Financial Dignity Summit Plenary sessions and Financial inclusion Working Group sessions will touch on powerful, inspirational and aspirational themes that speak to the future of “making free enterprise work for all.” These themes include but are not limited to (a) how free enterprise and responsible capitalism can actually be used as a powerful tool to empower and uplift the underserved and the working class, as well as to grow and to stabilize a middle class. (b) Proposals to formalize financial literacy and financial dignity coursework as a requirement in K-12 schools, and as a new ‘civil rights’ issue for this generation. (c) Taking initiatives like the Gallup 100-year commitment to U.S. public schools to spark a movement that reconnects the power of education with the power of aspiration (utilizing measureable youth economic energy and a quadrupling of business role models in schools). (d) Considering the vastly untapped power of small business creation and entrepreneurship in growing jobs and local GDP growth. (d) And finally, your own bold thought leadership ideas, such as a ‘bank account for all,’ from birth.
